The Schroth cure is a natural healing treatment based on ancient knowledge of diet and fasting, drinking and non-drinking, exercise and rest and special heat retention body wraps, which are meant to assist in the excretion of metabolic waste products.
The cure helps with detoxification and regulation of the metabolism. By the alternation of days on which one drinks and days on which one does not drink it detoxifies the body. The cure is based on a diet free of fat, protein and salt, which activates the blood circulation. It is an excellent detox treatment, but next to that it is also highly recommended to relieve symptoms caused by arthritis, diabetes, rheumatoid diseases, skin diseases, etc.
The treatment is based on four pillars:
1) The Diet: It contains 500-600 calories per day (excluding wine). Free of cholesterol, salt and animal protein this vegan diet lays emphasis on carbohydrates alleviating the metabolism. Using natural high quality ingredients the kitchen chef will create healthy and tasty dishes for you.
2) Whole Body Packs: In the early morning hours (every day except Sundays)the specially trained staff will wake you up with a cup of tea preparing the body pack. This can be done for the entire body or only up to three quarters, depending on the patient´s constitution. Various layers of cold humid and dry blankets together with hot heat carriers are necessary to produce an artificial fever lasting for two hours. This will help the body to regenerate and eliminate toxins. The cure in general can only be administered if a prior meeting with the doctor has been arranged and a prescription given.
3) Regulated Liquid Intake: A rhythmic change of drinking and non-drinking will lead to drainage of the connective tissue. Together with the diet and the body packs it will clean the body from the inside. In addition, every second day the patient receives ¼ L of wine to support the health process. The wine is an important element for the cure but is not compulsory.
4) Activity vs. Relaxation: Patients are strongly encouraged to exercise a lot during drinking days. The location of the Ecohotel Ojen is predestined for this requirement: horseback-riding, hiking, aqua-gym… the spectrum of activities offered is wide. On the days with little liquid intake patients are required to relax and enjoy the beauty of surrounding nature and enjoy some treatments in the SPA.
