The do-it-yourself spa party is on the rise with woman opting for at home pampering versus a night on the town. A girls night out spa party is a great excuse to get together with your girl friends to relax, rejuvenate and have some fun. A ´Ladies night In´ can be an inexpensive and exciting way to enjoy a spa experience with friends.
We recommend disposing of husband and kids for the event. Send them to the movies, to the in-laws or whatever for the evening. Invite a few of your best friends to the party.
A home spa party doesn’t need to be expensive. Ask each to bring some of the supplies (see list below) and a toiletry item. For your at-home spa party you’ll need to have certain essential products on hand. What you need will depend on the type of treatments you are going to have at the party.
We recommend the following:
- manicure and pedicure supplies
- hair supplies
- fashion magazines
- robes
- slippers
- high quality towels
- goody bags
- paraffin wax bath for hands and feet
- foot bath
- homemade facial recipes
- facial steamer
- cooling gel masks
- snacks and drinks
- music
- movies (comedies and chick flicks)
Prepare the party!
Make sure your house is tidy and smells nice before friends arrive. Decorate your home. Use colorful sheets draped over couches and clear plastic or painter’s drop cloths on floors or carpet to add atmosphere and to protect the floors and furniture. Use scented candles and aromatic oils, rose petals, and paper lanterns for a relaxing mood.
To make the ambiance more relaxing, you should play soothing music in the background. Ocean sounds work really well too!
Get everything ready
Make some face masks out of fruit like strawberries, oatmeal, avocado, or banana, or buy some at the local drug store.
If you want to make your own masks, you can try the following:
- ½ cup of oatmeal, 2 tablespoons of honey, and ¼ of plain yogurt mix into paste. Smooth on and leave for 15 minutes.
- Mix 1 avocado and 4 tablespoons of yogurt spread and leave on for 30 minutes.
- Avocado eye mask: 5 drops of almond oil, half an avocado. Blend and leave on around eyes for five minutes.
- Mix ½ cup yogurt, 2 tablespoons of tea leaves, ½ teaspoon of lemon. Apply and leave on 15 minutes.
Store them in the fridge until your guests arrive.
You can also have your guests mix their own masks. In this case fill clear glasses or small bowls with a variety of exfoliators and astringents. You can chose oats, yogurt, smashed avocado, honey, grapeseed, olive or almond oil, lemons and crushed green tea leaves.
Prepare Healthy Snacks and Drinks
Some snacks to try: Sandwiches, crackers and dip, sliced fresh fruit and veggies, yogurt, healthy chips, dark chocolate and popcorn for the movies. For the drinks, you can offer freshly squeezed fruit juices, smoothies, green tea or wine.
Get the party started!
Welcome your guests with a healthy smoothie. Once your guests are settled and refreshed after their smoothie have everyone put on robe and slippers. Start with your facials. Wash your faces with cleanser or water and dry with a towel.
Follow these steps and have fun helping each other create and apply.
- Choose and mix your mask.
- Apply and leave on for 15 minutes.
- Rinse and dry.
- Apply toner and moisturizer.
Then place some hair treatment or conditioner in your hair and wrap in a towel. Give yourself pedicures and manicures. Don’t rush! You have all the time in the world. Soak your hands and feet in water, then remove any old nail polish. Now go paint each other’s nails. You should tell the girls to bring all of their polishes before the party so you have a wide variety.
Offer Yoga Sessions
If you are a yoga fan, you can also offer a yoga session to your guests. You can play a yoga video on your TV and lay out yoga mats on the floor. You can do this before they have their beauty treatments and before they change into their robes.
Massage
If the budget allows, you can go in with your friends to hire a masseur to come in and give everyone a professional massage. Or you just give each other a massage. You can use essential oils such as peppermint, lavender and rosemary.
After the last massage it’s time to have snacks or a light meal followed by the movie or games. The most important thing about your home spa party is the fun part. Relax, have a wonderful time and enjoy the opportunity to show your friends that you love them.
Good-bye Gift Bags
Remember that we had your guests bring a toiletry item. Put these items into goody bags and top off with a tiny candle or essence stick to send off your friends with a glow. Put a small bottle of nail polish or aromatic oil with a ribbon that has your party’s title, date and time printed on it, so they will always remember this special occasion with their dearest friends…
