Our third March Nutrition Month recipe is all about grains! Eating grains, especially whole grains, provides health benefits. People who eat whole grains as part of a healthy diet have a reduced risk of some chronic diseases. Grains provide many nutrients that are vital for the health and maintenance of our bodies. Consuming whole grains as part of a healthy diet may reduce the risk of heart disease, may reduce constipation and eating whole grains may help with weight management.
For this weekend we have a super simple recipe for you to make your own Homemade Granola. With these simple steps it’s really easy to prepare homemade granola and bring it with you wherever you go. These are the ingredients you will need to prepare it:
- ½ cup sunflower oil
- ¼ cup molasses
- ¼ cup agave
- ¼ cup orange juice
- ½ cup walnuts
- 4 cups oatmeal
- ¼ teaspoon ground cinnamon
- ½ cup sliced almonds
The process is quite simple:
- Mix all the ingredients in a bowl and place them on an oven tray.
- Introduce the tray in the oven and leave it for 40 minutes – 150ºC (don’t forget to stir every 10 minutes).
- Remove it from the oven after 40 minutes, let it cold and pack it on a closed bag or jar to keep its properties.
