The Hotel

Bathed by the waters of the Atlantic Ocean, Gran Canaria is one of the 7 islands that make up the Canary Islands archipelago. With 36 miles of beaches and a total of 146 miles of coastline, Gran Canaria enjoys spring-like temperatures all year long.

Part of the municipality of San Bartolomé de Tirajana, located near to the famous tourist area of Maspalomas and Playa del Inglés, you will find San Agustín, a much quieter town without the big crowds but where you can still find a large infrastructure of restaurants, shopping centres and bars. The beaches of San Agustín and Las Burras are two of the most beautiful and protected beaches in Southern Gran Canaria, and due to the mild climate are popular all year round.

It is here in this quieter area of San Agustin that Thalasso Gloria San Agustín Hotel**** is located, just 450 meters from the nearest beaches of Las Burras and San Agustín. The location allows quick and easy access to the bar and restaurant area, as well as the shopping centre and Maspalomas.

The Rooms

The hotel offers 448 comfortable and bright rooms, in different categories, all with their own terrace and views of either the pool, garden or Atlantic Ocean. All rooms are fully equipped and have air-conditioning, free Wi-Fi internet, TV as well as tea & coffee making facilities.

Thalasso Centre

One of the main reasons for travelling to the Thalasso Gloria San Augustín Hotel should definitely be the fantastic Thalasso centre, which is one of the world´s most modern thalassotherapy centres, boasting nearly 7.000 m2 dedicated to health treatments using sea water.

Designed by the Gran Canarian architect Luis López, the Thalasso centre stands out for its spectacular and harmonious spaces. The large glass dome allows the Thalasso centre to be flooded with natural light, providing an overriding feeling of spaciousness and wellbeing. This thalasso centre sits comfortably and naturally in its surroundings and offers stunning sea views.

The interior has been meticulously designed to create a relaxing atmosphere. The well-known local painter Pepe Dámaso has contributed noticeably to the design, creating a huge mural along the whole length of the pool as well as many stone and algae sculptures, decorative ceiling paintings and tiles in the booths and cabins.

The centre offers extensive facilities such as a relaxing seawater circuit with 34 hydromassage stations (cross-current swimming, microbubble seats, swan-neck water jets and waterfalls…), 2 dynamic pools with temperatures between 16ºC (61ºF) and 37ºC (100ºF) and 1 aquagym pool with an instructor. In addition, there is a sauna, Turkish bath and a gym.

Dining facilities

Within the hotel complex there are several restaurants to choose from. There is the buffet restaurant with open kitchen where you can enjoy a wide selection of hot and cold dishes. The panoramic restaurant has a menu specialised in Basque and international food and offers an extensive selection of starters and mains. Located on the 9th floor of the hotel, it really does provide stunning views over the San Agustin beach and the Maspalomas dunes. And last but not least relax in the perfect atmosphere while you enjoy a cocktail or a snack on the Gorbea chill-out terrace, with panoramic views.

Read what our clients have to say...

Just spent 9 nights at Gloria Palace. First time on Gran Canaria. Hotel was faultless we had a Spa room which included daily access to the water course. It was a treat at the end of each day. Room spotless,as was the whole hotel. The food was excellent and the service from the staff wherever you went was brilliant. Very friendly and professional. Have been to many 5 star hotels and this knocked spots off most of them. Will certainly return

We love this

  • How comprehensive the facilities of the Thalassotherapy centre are!
  • The quality of the team of professionals
  • The spa treatment schedule is impressive

This not so much...

  • This is a very large hotel, mainly visited by families so the outdoor pool area can be quite noisy with children. The spa is restricted to adults, so peace and quiet guaranteed here
  • The hotel restaurant is huge and looks a bit like a canteen, lacking a cosy atmosphere. On the top floor there is another much cosier restaurant with amazing views!
  • The hotel does not have a sea side location, the beach is at approximately 15 minutes walk away

Our tips

  • There is a wonderful walk you can do from Agaete to Pinar de Tamadaba which is a beautiful pine forest set on the Tamadaba mountain. The round trip takes several hours but it is absolutely worth it. If you don´t fancy such a long walk you can always drive to the forest from where you have access to some really nice walks direct from the parking area. The view is absolutely breath-taking. If the weather is good you can see the ocean, and the Teide, Tenerife´s volcano, reaching up to the sky.
  • If you like the beach we would recommend Playa de Las Canteras. A sandy beach mainly visited by locals with a natural rock barrier which protects the beach from high waves. The promenade which skirts the beach is full of bars, restaurants and coffee shops with lovely terraces so you can enjoy the fantastic view. The temperate climate invites swimming all year round!
  • Puerto de Mogan is a picturesque resort and fishing village on the southwest coast of Gran Canaria. The canals and bridges of its seawater inlet have earned it the nickname "Little Venice." Along the marina, you'll find an assortment of restaurants and bars, while the old town area is full of quaint, Mediterranean homes and cottages climbing up the hillside.
  • On Sundays you can visit the markets of Teror and San Mateo, two of the most iconic towns in north-central Gran Canaria. San Mateo’s market is covered, located in two large halls, while Teror’s market is located in the streets that surround the church, in the open air. In both markets, you will find stalls for food, crafts, jewellery, textiles and local products. You should definitely try Gran Canaria’s famous cheese, the typical sausage of Teror and the island’s exquisite sweets. You can try all of these local delicacies at the market stalls or in the nearby cafes and restaurants.
