Balneario de Archena; An Oasis of Wellbeing!

Our newest colleague Christian visited Balneario de Archena recently. Read all about her experience here:

Balneario de Archena outdoor pools, wellness holidays by SIS Spa in SpainBalneario de Archena and my stay there has had a long lasting effect on me and I can’t tell you whether this was down to it being my first spa experience or it is simply down to the unique feel, the historic atmosphere, the warm and friendly staff or the extensive spa facilities that they have to offer.

The approach through Murcia and the local area is fairly barren and hilly, not dissimilar to that of the typical Spaghetti Western movies filmed in the nearby Almeria. However as you head towards the long entrance drive to the Balneario, past the fruit orchards, it’s almost like going from black and white into colour!

The complex of Balneario de Archena, at the border of a national park, with its 3 separate hotels, spa and river flowing around the border of the small “resort” really feels like an oasis, lush and green with tall trees and palms. The fact that other guests wander around in their complementary white bath robes leaves you with the impression that you are not the only one who has forgotten the outside world and made themselves a new home for the length of their stay!!

Hotel Termas is covered in beautiful Morrocan detail and the underground galleries originally restored and magnificently maintained have been built around the thermal water source. Here is where you would receive the thermal water treatments.

Balneario de Archebna balneatermaliumOnce you have donned your swim wear and bathrobe you have a short walk to the Spa complex which is made up of thermal indoor and outdoor pools with jets, jacuzzi’s, currents etc and the large Balena Termalium with its varying temperature saunas, igloo, flotation pools, lemon pool, current pool and heated relaxation areas. Wow!

This is where I had the pleasure of their signature treatment, the Archena Mud Massage, 20-25 minutes of massage using mud and water jets. The fact that the therapist needed to gently wake me up at the end gives you an idea of how relaxed I was!! I was able to come around in the heated relaxation area before plunging straight into the flotation tank, heaven on earth!!!

If you could do with a little me time, time out of a busy schedule and some pampering then I can thoroughly recommend a stay at the Balneario de Archena. The staff there will really look after you and you will certainly enjoy a very unique experience!
