Although in some parts of Europe you can´t really call it summer (yet), many other places do experience a lovely hot and sunny summer. But beware, because hot and lazy summer days can take their toll if you are not careful. Here are our 10 best tips for getting through summer healthy and beautiful!
TIP 1: Enjoy the summer!
Take some time off from your regular routine. By giving your mind and body time to relax, you’ll gain more strength and energy!
TIP 2: Water!
This is crucial for those who love the sun and beach in the summer. Start off your day by drinking two glasses of water. At least 2 litres of water during the day are needed. If possible, carry around a re-usable bottle of water with you as a reminder to stay hydrated. Water not only helps you feel fresh, but it also prevents dehydration and will help flush out a lot of toxins.
TIP 3: Go outside!
Pick one outdoor activity – a hike, a walk in the countryside, play a game such as tag with your kids, cycle, roller blade, or swim, just to shed that cooped-up feeling of gym workouts. And remember, families that play together not only get fit together – but also cement their bond together!
TIP 4: Summer Fruit!
Did you know that in summer fruit is at its best! It is sweet, juicy and full of taste. Try melon, water melon, nectarines, peaches, cherries, plums, berries, pineapple, yummie and sooo healthy!
TIP 5: Happy Feet!
Everybody wants their feet to look good in summer, because they are more visible now than at any other time of the year. Scrub your feet with foot scrubs or make your own with some granular salt or sugar and olive oil.

TIP 6: Give Your Diet a Berry Boost!
If you do one thing this summer to improve your diet, have a cup of mixed fresh berries — blackberries, blueberries, or strawberries — every day. They’ll help you load up on antioxidants, which may help prevent damage to tissues and reduce the risks of age-related illnesses. Blueberries and blackberries are especially antioxidant-rich. A big bonus: Berries are also high in fibre, which helps keep cholesterol low and may even help prevent some cancers.
TIP 7: Tanning without burning.
A sunscreen with a decent SPF of at least 20 (but preferably higher), should be your best-friend for the summer, even if you want a tan! If you like the tanned look, remember to let the tan happen naturally and over a few days. Exposing yourself to the sun intensely, just to get a tan can have adverse effects on your skin and cause severe sunburn and wrinkles.
TIP 8: Deep-conditioning
Conditioning is essential for your hair to stay strong and shiny. Apply a conditioner at least once a week in summer. Hair tends to become dry, dull or brittle if it is exposed to frequent cycles of soaking and drying, which happens if you sweat a lot or go swimming and sun bathe.
TIP 9: Exfoliation
Exfoliation is a must to clear away dead cells that can otherwise clog up your pores and cause unsightly spots that can really spoil your summer look. Use a scrub that does not dry your skin or make your own; sugar mixed with a little olive oil is very natural and skin friendly. And don´t forget to moisturize after the scrub!
TIP 10: Go on a Wellness Holiday!
There are many types of wellness holidays available. You can go for a beauty break just for pampering, or use your holiday to finally get started with a more long term weight loss. Or choose a Yoga holiday to get back to yourself and find a new balance between body and mind. Many options and ALL beneficial to health and/ or beauty!
